A Visit To Storybrooke

Friday, July 17, 2015

When Annica told me that our favourite TV show 'Once Upon A Time' was filming yesterday (Thursday, July 16) afternoon, Arden, Katie and I tried our luck and made a partially spontaneous trip to Steveston Village. Making a trip to Richmond was something to prepare for since we lived a ways off, but luckily we already planned to go this coming Tuesday. Though it was rushed and we transited for over an hour and a half, it was a good thing we took the chance.

The first and only other time I visited the set, I ended up getting a picture with Captain Hook/Colin O'Donoghue (I'm still freaking out) and being arms-length away from Elsa/Georgina Haig. And aside from that, Annica's gotten a picture with Belle/Emilie De Ravin before, so we'd take any chance to be on set again.

When we arrived, they were just finishing up their filming for this scene. Since it was in an enclosed area, no cast members were in view of the fans. But it looks like there's a new woodsy set up right where 'Granny's Diner' used to be. Wonder what's happening there...

Once they finished filming the scene at the 'Beer Garden', we were surprisingly pleased to see practically the entire cast on set! Regina (Lana Parrilla), Zelena (Rebecca Mader), Robin Hood (Sean Maguire), Prince Charming (Josh Dallas), Snow White (Ginnifer Goodwin), Henry (Jared Gilmore), Belle and Hook all filmed one of those road intersection scenes, and lucky for us, we got to see it front and centre.

We watched them do a couple rehearsals...

Then they changed into their costumes and came back to film the scene...

...Again...

...And again...

 ... And again.

They filmed some stuff with a mic and this elevation thing...

... And a couple hundred more times with some "shade".

But randomly in between takes Hook and Charming came out of nowhere and.....

High fives all around!!!

After a couple of hours, they finally finished filming from that angle and was about to film the same scene from a different angle, so we got moved...

And this became our view for the next hour.

But there's this crew member named Sarah, who has a kickass Scottish accent and throws leaves around as part of her job. She's quite a character for a BTS girl, and hands out these bracelets to some fans when she's got the time. Annica said she's in one of the Once Upon A Time specials that they show before a season premier, so I have to check that out soon.

Hope to see you again, Storybrooke!
